A welcome trend, which has made it easier than ever to make healthy choices. Whether you're interested in green juices and fresh wraps on the go, or a relaxing sit-down lunch, the capital has something for everyone. We've searched the city and listed a range of Stockholm lunch spots serving nutritious lunches of all kinds.

At BodyBuddy all the ingredients they use are carefully chosen for their beneficial properties for your body and health - and, naturally, the environment. Green Smile near Vanadislunden serves masses of salads that you can make just the way you want them, as well as bowls and other healthy options. Most of the food they serve is vegetarian, as well as gluten and lactose-free, but you'll also find protein in the form of turkey and tuna on the menu.

This organic healthfood café is at two different addresses in Stockholm, in Södermalm and in Vasastan, and both branches are a sure bet for a really healthy lunch. The menu is completely vegetarian but offers a wide range of different flavours and plenty of options for people with various food allergies and intolerances. Choose from exotic salads, wraps, sweet-potato fries and bowls and round off your meal with a sugar-free cake or pastry.

If you're craving a lunch that's both healthy and filled with exciting flavours, get along to Koja Bar, which serves Asian-inspired dishes. Take a seat in the intimate restaurant and enjoy noodles, dumplings and homemade sauces. Everything on the menu can be bought to take away.

Sally Voltaire's restaurant in Åhléns City has become a reliable healthfood favourite. They serve everything from substantial salads, with prawns and purely vegan, to a daily lunch special. The light, airy restaurant has space for 160 seated guests, so though it's always popular at lunchtime it's rarely impossible to bag a table.

Zoey's Freshfood is a great alternative to traditional fastfood, serving healthy wraps, salads, burritos and bowls. Take a seat in the leafy café, or buy your food to go if you want something quick and healthy on the run.

Doktor Mat on Tegnérgatan is a healthfood joint which aims to prove that food can be nutritious and delicious at the same time. It's easy to make good choices here and everything is cooked slowly from scratch, before being served fast in a lunchbox. All the food they serve is gluten-, lactose- and refined sugar-free and always includes fermented vegetables, for a healthy immune system. All ingredients are chosen and combined to have as beneficial an effect on your health as possible.

Fancy a falafel?
This hummus and falafel restaurant on Scheelegatan serves up helathy fastfood just as you'd find it in Akko, Palestine's gastronomic heart. Choose from freshly-fried falafel, lamb, salads and börek. Combine your food with homemade hummus or baba ghanoush. Maxos also provides catering for all kinds of events, and you can even order your food online.

Cosy neighbourhood spot
Newt Food & Bakery on Polhemsgatan serves primarily plant-based food, with a high nutritional value and very little lactose or gluten among the ingredients. Their Newt plates, are large, hearty salads, with punchy flavours and hot and cold ingredients. If your sweet tooth gets the better of you, there are homemade desserts and cakes and pastries from their own bakery.

Stockholm's first healthfood plate
These days, it's easier than ever before to find healthy lunch options in Stockholm, but that hasn't always been the case. In the Nineties, Meshmesh Nildalen was the first to serve "healthfood plates" at Planet Food in Östermalmshallen food hall. Their name has now changed to Mesh, but the love of nutritious food and juices remains. Few lunch spots can compete with their many years of experience in rolling wraps and creating healthy salads and health plates.
