The best glamping spots around Stockholm
Updated 19 Jun 2019
If you prefer the great outdoors to come complete with creature comforts such as proper beds, luxury linen, wood-fired stoves and breakfast delivered to your door, glamping could be the thing for you. Glamping - "'glamorous camping" - is a relatively new concept in Sweden but a few places have hopped on the trend in recent years, providing luxurious accommodation in canvas bell tents in beautiful natural surroundings. Whether you fancy a lake view in the Sörmland countryside or a seafront position in the Stockholm archipelago, our guide will lead you to the best places to spend the night under the stars without having to wrestle with tent poles or soggy sandwiches.
On the edge of the open sea
Four canvas tents (Number 4 is larger, perfect for families), complete with wood-burning stoves, sit on platforms looking out over the outer archipelago. A breakfast basket is brought to your tent in the morning and, during high season, a chef cooks a communal dinner for guests over open fire.
Sleep to the sounds of the sea
Take the ferry out to Svartsö, a 1,5-2 hr boat ride from Nybrokajen and, after a four course dinner at Svartsö Krog, you can bed down in one of three sea-facing canvas tents. Each tent sleeps up to four people and all are cosily equipped with thick duvets, heaters, fur rugs and atmospheric lanterns.
As well as seven hotel rooms, this charming bed and breakfast outside Trosa has two glamping tents open in the summer months. The tents have outdoor wooden decks overlooking Lake Sillen complete with hammocks and outdoor showers. A two course dinner, using largely local produce and accompanied by natural and biodynamic wines, and breakfast buffet are included.
World class island luxury
Seven specially-designed igloo-style tents on a private island outside Vaxholm provide an exclusive archipelago experience perfect for small groups and corporate events. Gourmet meals are served in a separate dining tent, safari-style, there's a hot tub and floating sauna guests can use and activities including firewalking, seal safaris and sea kayaking can be arranged.
Sleep in a luxurious canvas tent on the island of Möja in the Stockholm archipelago, equipped with a double and single bed, wood stove, outdoor kitchen, shower and much more. The tent is right next to the water on private land and the price includes a homemade breakfast and bikes for exploring the island. Perfect for anyone who wants to be at one with nature while enjoying a glamorous experience.
