The best hotels in Kungsholmen

Kungsholmen is an island and a surprisingly centrally located part of Stockholm. From the easterly and central parts of the neighbourhood it's just a short walk to the city centre and the central train station. The range of hotels isn't particularly large but it still offers everything from charming, quirky accommodation to luxurious, newly-renovated hotels. Here's a curated selection with something for everyone - let us guide you to the best hotels in Kungsholmen.

Clarion Hotel Amaranten

Sixties style

The iconic Amaranten was built at the end of the Sixties and is now part of the Clarion chain. The interiors were given a makeover in 2016 when the architect firm Tengbom was commissioned to give the hotel a modern facelift that flirts with the original Sixties glamour. You'll also find Kitchen & Table and Tap Room here, both developed in collaboration with celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson.

Courtyard by Marriott Stockholm

Spectacular views

The Courtyard by Marriott has several hundred hotel rooms with large windows looking out over Rålambshovsparken and Lake Mälaren. The decor is ultra-modern and there's a fitness centre open 24 hours a day. You can hire bikes to get into the city along the waterfront or, if you'd rather stay put, the restaurant Björk Bar och Grill is on site.

First Hotel Fridhemsplan

Great transport links

First Hotel is handily located right on Fridhemsplan within walking distance of Norr Mälarstrand and Stockholm central railway station. Fridhemsplan also has excellent public transport links by bus and underground. In the rooms you'll find top quality beds by Jensen, LED tvs and newly-renovated bathrooms in tile and marble.

Connect Hotel City

On-site parking

If you're coming into Stockholm by car it's a good idea to look slightly outside the city centre for a hotel with on-site parking. Connect is one such hotel, with parking spaces on site, but it's still in a central location near Sankt Eriksbron. The hotel has a large breakfast room, a newly-renovated modern lobby area and a bistro and bar.
