When I have seen and heard that they should have good cocktails, we started by ordering a jug "Bali Sangria". The taste of the juice, which was not particularly good.
Then followed the starter, main course and dessert + a bottle of white wine. The wine did not go either way, but hard to blame them for it.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. I ate tempeh with hazelnuts and Majo, Supergod! I also tasted roasted vegetables with a peanut sauce that was tasty.
To the main course I ordered Ikan Kari (catch of the day, which was Haddock), my company took Nasi Goreng (Indonesian rice dish) and Gado Gado (Tofurätt). Very beautiful arrangement! Unfortunately, did not keep the flavors I think, it did not feel yummy. I don't know if they haven't gotten it together, or if it's Indonesian spices I'm above at.
For dessert we shared on Es Goreng-ground pea ice cream with fried kale and caramel sauce. Good but no spec according to me, my company was, however, happier.
As a summary, I do not feel that I want to run back there, there was nothing that felt so good. But can imagine going back to just take a glass at the bar, or give the menu a new chance. Plus too much vego and nice setup! The Servisen felt rather lax and confused. No direct presentation or greater effort when welcoming. For guests who have not been there before (which they ask for when booking) you can expect them to explain a little more. Generally they were not alert, and felt ignorant-but nice! It's a place I'd wished I loved, but didn't manage to deliver.
I had higher expectations of Warung.
