Dykarbaren in Sandhamn has been regarded as one of the absolute best restaurants in the archipelago for many years. Their food is inspired by Swedish cuisine as well as the countless coastal areas of the world. Since 2009 the restaurant has had an annual mention in the prestigious White Guide, proving that Dykarbaren is always at the cutting edge both gastronomically and service-wise.
Dykarbaren, which is situated right on the harbourfront, is one of the archipelago's more ambitious restaurants. They serve lunch and dinner with menus that are regularly updated but always delicious. Food is classic archipelago-inspired food with Spanish influences. Fancy a Sandhamn open sandwich with smoked whitefish, horseradish cream, bleak roe and cress, Dykarbaren's pinxtos, Spanish meatballs or the house chili burger? The lunch menu is available every day between 11.30am and 3pm and always includes a daily lunch special and a salad of the day. Their drinks menu includes everything from bubbles to various beers, and a long list of wines from all over the world.
After the food, the best thing about Dykarbaren is the atmosphere. Their aim is to make you feel completely at home. Service is attentive without being too in-your-face. Expect a friendly welcome and great service; not surprisingly, many of their guests choose to return time after time. Dykarbaren is personal, unpretentious and you can come exactly as you are. In the evenings the restaurant can get pretty lively, with a mixed crowd of everyone from Sandhamn residents to international tourists.
The building the restaurant is housed in was built at the turn of the last century and there are two floors, with the top floor reserved for pre-booked guests. On the ground floor you'll find the sky-blue bar. Both floors ar filled with gorgeous natural light thanks to the large windows in all directions. In front of Dykarbaren is the sunny outdoor dining area with front-row views over the harbour. Enjoy the light sea breezes as you sip a cocktail and watch the boats coming into the harbour.
Dykarbaren is open from May to September (for specific opening hours, see "Opening hours" in the menu above) but it can also be reserved at other times by request.
