A Bowl, close to Mariatorget in Södermalm, was one of the first places in Stockholm to serve Hawaiian poké bowls. These days, the restaurant creates nutritious bowls of all varieties, with an emphasis on fresh, natural and seasonal ingredients. The founders have a background in top restaurants such as Oaxen, AG and The Burgundy.
A Bowl (which used to be called A Bowl Poke Poke) can be found right alongside the steps leading up from Mariatorget towards Södermalm's Söders höjder, "southern heights", area, and they're open for both lunch and dinner. The restaurant opened its doors in 2016, when it introduced Stockholmers to Hawaiian poké bowls. Today, they've abandoned the poké concept in favour of offering a wider range of different healthy and creative bowls - with fish, Swedish chicken and Mediterranean-inspired ingredients, among other things. The common denominator is that all their bowls contain rice, seeds and coriander and the entire menu uses fresh ingredients in season, including organic and locally-produced vegetables wherever possible.
The setting is modern but warm and intimate, with industrial elements alongside slightly more elegant interiors details and paintings. Drop by to eat lunch or dinner, or hang out by the bar and have a cocktail or glass of wine after work. In the summer months, the al fresco area on the steps is a fun, buzzy place to hang out and you'll find it packed with Södermalm locals having a drink or something to eat as soon as the warm weather appears.
