The Freezer House celebrates its 30th anniversary this year (2014). Anders Carlberg did not get the opportunity to experience that anniversary year, but the business is today so well established in Stockholm. The fact that there are operations in Malmö and Gothenburg is inspiring.
I remember my first visit to Fryshuset, I was 11 years old and so fascinated that there was a place so big that there was room for a skate park indoors and lots of other fun things for young people.
Now I'm slightly older but still I get the same feeling when I walk through the doors. As a rotary member, I get the chance to be in the Freezer House every Friday.
Some of the activities in Fryshuset include theatre, film production, courses in sea life, scouts, girl groups and groups that work for the possibilities of getting out of violent gangs. Mentioning them all is almost impossible, but one thing that is certain is that it is a creative environment for all young people.
If you hear young people talking about how boring they are and that there is nothing to do, they refer here. It's going to change them and maybe they'll get the same feeling I had when I was a kid.
There is also a secondary school, high school and one-year music education.
If you are in the area around lunchtime, I can highly recommend a visit to Fryshuset Kök &bakery. It is both affordable and tasty. Don't miss the cake afterwards.
In short; The cold store has been around for 30 years but always needs to be highlighted, it is about the young people's chances of conquering the world and who does not want to be part of that revolution!
