Situated just off of Drury Lane, Margot provides an elegant setting with leather booths, dark-hued furnishings and dim lighting crafting the sort of intimate ambiance that seems tailor-made for chatting up mysterious strangers, or just indulging in a glass of good wine and some nibbles before heading off to see a show.

Toeing the line between comfy casualness and suave refinement in cuisine as well as ambiance, the restaurant in Covent Garden specialises in classic Italian dishes from all over the country. They serve a two- or three-course set menu for both lunch and as a pre-theatre menu, featuring a choice of starters such as asparagus with parmesan or swordfish carpaccio with aubergine, mains such as tonnarelli pasta with cacio e pepe or chicken breast with king oyster mushrooms and asparagus cream, and classic desserts such as panna cotta and sorbetto.

The à la carte menu, meanwhile, starts with a platter of salami and cheeses from the various regions of Italy before continuing with an array of antipasti such as burrata, seared scallops and beetroot salad. There are also plenty of different pasta dishes, as well as traditional favourites such as ossobuco or veal Milanese. You can accompany your meal with a selection of signature cocktails, for example the Amalfi Affair, based around vodka and limoncello, or a bottle from the award-winning wine list that includes over 300 wines from around the world.
