Mama's Kubo
Situated in Hampstead, Mama's Kubo is an authentic Filipino restaurant with a cosy vibe. The restaurant prides itself on offering its own take on “hygge” cosiness, combining style and warm hospitality for a memorable dining experience.
The interior of Mama's Kubo brings together classic elegance and traditional Filipino highlights, with plenty of greenery to add to the tropical vibe. A small outdoor terrace further enhances the experience on warm days, surrounded by lush plants to complete the illusion of dining in a faraway land.
Celebrating the fresh flavours of Pinoy cuisine, the restaurant serves a range of traditional dishes such as lumpia spring rolls, mango salad, stir-fried noodles, fried rice, and stews. Vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options are available as well. The restaurant also serves mouth-watering Filipino desserts such as halo-halo sundaes, sweet spring rolls, or sticky rice cakes. You can complement your meal with hot teas, coconut water, a selection of fine wines and beers, or one of the cocktails inspired by the Philippines, for example the Tequila Manila made with pressed tamarind juice and chillies.
The kitchen at Mama's Kubo is helmed by chef and owner Rommel Bustarde, who racked up decades of experience under acclaimed restaurateur Alan Yau, including at Busaba, Wagamama, and Babaji Pide. Having struck out on his own, he now draws on his heritage, infusing classic Filipino recipes with his own signature twists. Depending on the chef's mood and time, you can also expect different weekly specials.
