The Cross rises again

The Cross was a legendary nightclub that drew in well-dressed crowds for nights of refined revelry in King’s Cross from 1993 to 2007. Setting itself apart with stylish furnishings and clientele, it became one of the most popular party spots in the city in a time when most clubs relied on cheesy music, sticky floors and dingy surroundings to appease punters.

Trading in its six arches for six floors of a refurbished boozer, The Cross of today is backed by the original founder. The basement club is now joined by a dining room, lounges, a bar and a rooftop terrace with impressive views, with the venue billing itself as a place where you can dance, dine and drink. Appropriately, the menu relies on small plates designed to give you a boost without weighing you down, for example beef carpaccio or salads. And with cocktail bars on hand throughout the multi-storied venue, you’re unlikely to go thirsty.

The decor of the new venue features plenty of nods back to its predecessor, with original features such as doors and seats salvaged from it and paired with luxurious fittings for an authentic feel with a touch of glamour. The no-photo policy means you'll have to go check it out for yourself, however.

With an in-house team in charge of the programming, The Cross is set to return to its past glories as a place for both fashionable socialising and vibrant all-nighters when it opens in early September.
