National Portrait Gallery to host the winners of the Taylor Wessing Photo Portrait Prize

The Taylor Wessing Photo Portrait Prize is an esteemed competition whose aims is to showcase up-and-coming talent, with amateurs and professionals alike competing for the valuable prizes.

Covering a diverse range and telling fascinating stories, the 58 winning portraits by 51 artists, some of them displayed for the first time, explore both traditional and contemporary approaches to photographic portraits. Selected by a panel of experts, the displayed works depict different characters, moods, and locations all over the world.

In addition to the shortlisted photographers, the exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery features this year's In Focus Photographer Hassan Hajjaj, who divides his time between London and Marrakech. Embracing diverse cultural influences as a result, from Western pop to Moroccan fabrics, Hajjaj reflects his own experiences through vibrant portraits. His works can be found in some of the world's most prestigious museums, but the series on display at the National Portrait Gallery features never-before-seen works.

The 2023 Taylor Wessing Photo Portrait Prize has returned to the National Portrait Gallery for the first time in three years and will be on display from 8 November to 25 February. Find out more here.
