Mark the end of Ramadan with a free celebration

Muslims across the world are currently observing the holy month of Ramadan with Eid al-Fitr, a celebration that marks the end of the fasting period, set to fall on 10th April in the UK. Ten days later, Trafalgar Square will be the site of a big celebration to mark this special time – Eid in the Square 2024.

This is the 19th edition of this free annual festival and there will be lots going on to keep all ages entertained. The full line-up of events is yet to be announced but there's usually a grand parade featuring Dhol drummers and spectacular costumes. A few things have already been confirmed for this year though. On the main stage there will be a busy programme of performances and presentations throughout the afternoon. Added to that, the festival will include the Inspiring Muslim Awards, recognising the achievements of Muslim Londoners across a number of categories, with the central theme for this year's awards being identity.

Attendees will also be able to enjoy a diverse array of street food and stalls, plus there's an area for kids featuring storytelling, workshops, and calligraphy. The event is completely free to attend and will run all afternoon on 20th April. Find out more about what will be happening on the Mayor of London website.
