Find your new favourite book above the clouds in Battersea

On World Book Day, Lift 109 at Battersea Power Station is hosting a book tasting session in the sky.

Lift 109, Battersea Power Station's glass lift that takes you to the top of one of the building's iconic chimneys, often hosts special events as part of its “Lift 109 Lates” series, and one of them is coming up in March. On 7 March, also known as World Book Day, the glass elevator will be transformed into a peaceful reading nook where you'll be able to sit back, relax, and dive into a gripping new book, resting your eyes on the stunning London skyline between pages.

And don't worry if you're short on reading material – the Sky High Reading Nook has thought of that as well. The experience includes a book tasting session, where you'll be guided through a curated sample of four books before walking away with the one you enjoy the most. Selected by the in-house Battersea Bookshop experts the titles include “Brick Lane” by Monica Ali, “London Belongs to Me” by Norman Collins, “Rivers of London” by Ben Aaronovitch, and “Doing Time” by Jodi Taylor.

The Sky High Reading Nook at Battersea Power Station will be open for two hourlong sessions on Thursday 7 March, starting at 6.15 and 7.15pm. Tickets cost £45 and include the experience, your chosen book, and a soft drink. You can book your spot here.
