A new exhibition celebrating women artists is opening in Bermondsey

You might already known about “Women in Revolt”, an exhibition that's currently on at Tate Britain and celebrates female artists and feminist art practices. If you want even more, check out the newest show at Drawing Room in Bermondsey, opening to the public on 25th January and running until 21st April. The exhibition has been timed to coincide with the show at Tate Britain.

“The Time of Our Lives” looks at the groundbreaking drawing practices of female artists and their impact on feminist activism from the 1980s up to the present day. Some of the major names to feature in the show include Monica Ross, Sonia Boyce, and Claudette Johnson. The exhibition also includes new commissions by Jade de Montserrat and Kate Davis. As well as the work on the walls, the exhibition includes an interactive display in the gallery's library that brings together posters, pamphlets, and magazines by feminist collectives in the UK both past and present.

Drawing Room is a contemporary art gallery dedicated to drawing practices. Formerly based in Elephant & Castle, in 2023 it reopened in Bermondsey in its first ever permanent space. “The Time of Our Lives” is the second major show to take place in the new premises. Exhibitions here are free to attend.
