Early in January we booked a table, until 28/1. However, we received a message that the premiere was delayed and could we consider rescheduling? A goodie bag was promised, on the rescheduled visit...
Of course, we rebooked, as we looked forward to visiting Sigfrids and the new reservation turned into 4/2 instead. It wasn't a pleasant experience though...
We arrived at the appointed time but had to stand in the doorway with our outerwear on, for 10 minutes. Finally, we took matters into our own hands and walked over to the counter to ask where our table was. We had to choose between a table right by the cash register, or downstairs. We chose the first one (no good placement we noticed, as people kept running there to pay). We sat down ourselves at the table. No one came and wished us welcome, left menus or asked if we wanted something to drink. After 15 minutes, we finally got in touch with a guy, who left menus, after we asked. Water, we also had to ask for ourselves...
After another 15 minutes, we had to walk up and ask if anyone could take our order. A guy came, we ordered a glass of red, a beer, a cheeseburger and a seafood stew. No bread, or anything else small, was offered...
Wine and beer came relatively quickly. Then it stopped... After 20 minutes we asked if the food was on its way and it was... another 10 minutes later... I got my cheeseburger (though not as promised with västerbottenaioli, but jalapeñoaioli, which was replaced) and my husband got a plate of shrimp and bread. We looked at each other in surprise. Where is the seafood stew? Unfortunately, it cannot be ordered today, we were told then... 30 minutes later, from the time we ordered... A cheeseburger could be thrown together in 10 minutes, so no worries, we were told (??!!) ... 10 minutes later, there was certainly another cheeseburger on the table (but by then I'd already have to start eating, if I didn't want to eat a cold cheeseburger), totally drenched in mayonnaise and ketchup. It floated all over the plate and looked totally unprofessional! My husband ate a few bites before we looked at each other resignedly and decided to go home...
I walk up to the cash register and am asked if I want to pay. My answer was: Yes, if you think I should need it...? Apparently they thought so... I had to pay for the drink and a cheeseburger, 375 crowns. (The cashier had mental presence enough, to skip the tip button on the pay machine...). Some promised goodie bag, I didn't go home with... On the other hand, I had to pay SEK 140 to Västtrafik, to get back and forth to Sigfrids...
The review I have given here, is the same one I emailed directly to Sigfrids, along with a cancellation for 8 people, on a reservation that I previously made. I have received a response regarding the cancellation but no apology or explanation for the substandard treatment. That's really bad of Sigfrids!

Such a nice evening at this newly open restaurant. (And bakery). Lovely staff and perfect style of the food. We'll done. I'm glad we pree booked. We will back.
A long-awaited premiere with sky-high expectations. Did they live up to them? A resounding "Yes!". Met by a modern and at the same time timeless classically decorated restaurant. Lively atmosphere upstairs, and pleasantly quiet in the very cozy wine cellar if you prefer.
Nice staff, with humor, who quickly come to serve the guests the premiere stress notwithstanding. The menu has everything that the heart can please and is wonderfully norm-breaking through its fidelity to the classic Swedish and Västgötska cuisine. At the same time, you also dare to go beyond the borders.
It took some time to get the food, but here it really applied to "he who waits for something good never waits too long". For what a wonderful entrecôte! Worth the wait. Might have been the best that these taste buds got to taste. Slightly too much salt on the fries (and seafood stew according to my fellow guests) but that's offset by the other good.
The wine list is on top. Couldn't have asked for more. However, any monastery beer Sankt Sigfrid in honour would be nice. Just the name of the bistro is so nice with its praise to Västergötland's apostle Sankt Sigfrid who named these areas.
Finally a REAL restaurant in Örgryte!
