Spend any time in London and you'll soon know that riverside locations are at a premium. The Prospect of Whitby has been holding on to its spot by the Thames since 1520 and putting it to good use with fantastic views from more or less every part. Throughout the centuries, the naval-themed tavern has drawn a mixed crowd, from smugglers to writers such as Charles Dickens and celebs like Kirk Douglas and Paul Newman, and it's still a major draw today.
