With over 1,000 years of history in its walls, the famous castle on the northern bank of the Thames has plenty of stories to tell, though most are of the bloody variety. During your visit, you'll walk through the grounds, along the moat and the ramparts and through the various buildings it encompasses, to learn about how and why the fortress became a key to controlling the country. The displays include many interesting artefacts, but the undisputed highlight are the Crown Jewels.

Pretty epic castle, with loads of different historic things to see, from weapons and clothing to the grounds themselves. The guided tour is worth your time, and if nothing else, definitely go see the Crown Jewels - they're spectacular in person.
