Straight from the Big Apple

Naturally, Sunday in Brooklyn is hosting an epic Thanksgiving celebration. The American-owned brand has a restaurant in Brooklyn and one in Notting Hill in London. They're mostly known for their glossy, too-good-to-eat pancakes, but once a year, they also throw a Thanksgiving bash in honour of their American roots. Regarding food, they prefer to keep things classic – last year's menu comprised turkey ballotine with pistachios and lardons, Long Island roast potatoes and cornbread with piles of Brussels sprouts on the side.

Joe Allen

A Thanksgiving feast

Historic Joe Allen, founded in 1977, has been the go-to spot for theatregoers for many years. But once a year it also serves a top-notch Thanksgiving feast. The set menu comprises three courses, with dishes like smoked salmon with granary, sour cream and lemon for the starter, roast turkey with all the trimmings for the main and New York cheesecake for dessert.

Claridge's

The ultimate Thanksgiving celebration

You're probably not surprised to hear that Claridge's doesn't do things by halves when it comes to Thanksgiving. If it's a complete blow-out feast you're looking for, this is the place to go. The meal is usually served in the Foyer and Reading Room, and the set menu consists of an amuse bouche, starters, mains and desserts. Dishes include cep and chestnut tortelloni with wild mushrooms, roast turkey with stuffing and glazed chestnuts, pumpkin and goats cheese wellington, and seared halibut served with mountains of Brussel sprouts with lardons, crispy roasties, parsnips, carrots and sautéed vegetables.

Galvin Bar & Grill

Thanksgiving with a tasty twist

Galvin Bar & Grill, owned by one Michelin star chef Galvin Chapelle, usually throw a hard-to-beat Thanksgiving feast. Make sure you leave enough room for dessert; it’s a sweet pecan pie with bourbon ice cream.

Duck & Waffle

Sky-high dining

If you're looking for a Thanksgiving celebration with epic skyline views, then Duck and Waffle is where it's at. This sky-high restaurant always puts on a decadent feast for Thanksgiving, with dishes served with all the trimmings. Chow down on all the classics, like buttermilk cornbread, succulent bronze turkey, green bean casserole and an assortment of sides served family-style, in true Thanksgiving style. You can also add wine pairing for a surcharge.

Christopher's

Their fav day of the year

If you're looking for an American spread in a sophisticated spot in Covent Garden, Christopher's has got you covered. Slow-cooked ballotine of organic turkey served with cornbread and Michigan cherry chestnut stuffing is just one of the works of art by the team behind Christopher's Thanksgiving menu, along with the classic roast turkey with all the trimmings, a lemon meringue cheesecake and a pumpkin pie.

Sette

American with a sprinkling of Italy

This Italian restaurant in Mayfair knows how to put on a show when it comes to Thanksgiving. Sette’s set menu includes a glass of Veuve Cliquot upon arrival, followed by dishes like chestnut and porcini soup, golden turkey with stuffing and an Italian bombolini or slice of sweet pecan pie to finish, doused in rum and raisin gelato. Sea Containers London

Celebrate and give back to the community

For a show-stopping Thanksgiving dinner, head to Sea Containers London, where they’re plating up an outstanding three-course set menu. Last year, they donated £5 of every meal to The Felix project, a charity helping vulnerable people in London suffering from food poverty. The menu includes buck carpaccio, roast turkey with all the trimmings and a sweet potato custard tart to finish.

Plaquemine Lock

Thanksgiving with a southern twist

Plaquemine Lock usually throws an American celebration to remember, where you’re encouraged to stuff your faces silly with everything from turkey and sweet potatoes to clementine mules made with homemade vodka. Last year, they threw a Creole and Cajun-inspired feast, with jambalaya and shrimp and grits all washed down with rum-based cocktails.

The Cleveland Arms

Keeping it classic

If there’s one place that knows how to throw a smashing Thanksgiving bash, it’s The Cleveland Arms in West London. In previous years, they’ve served an all-American set menu by head chef Najim Chahbouni, including smoked salmon on rye bread, roast turkey with all the trimmings and pecan pie with lemon crème fraiche.

No. Fifty Cheyne

A neighbourhood favourite

Head chef Iain Smith has created a winning neighbourhood establishment in No. Fifty Cheyne, with a particularly indulgent menu during the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons. Previous years have included the classics, like roast turkey for the main served with maple bacon, redcurrant cabbage and all the trimmings, all best enjoyed next to their roaring fireplace.

Heddon Street Kitchen

A Gordon Ramsay special

Gordon Ramsay is partial to a Thanksgiving feast at several of his restaurants, but Heddon Street Kitchen’s menu is particularly impressive. We’re talking confit duck leg served with bacon popcorn and a mushroom bake with Jack Daniel’s gravy, followed by a slice of indulgent pecan pie topped with cinnamon-spiced ice cream for dessert. Now that's what we call a feast.

The Cadogan Arms

Dine by the roaring fire

The Cadogan Arms keeps it classic with its three-course Thanksgiving meal. The feast kicks off with a pecan brittle Old Fashioned followed by a zingy prawn cocktail. Obviously, the main course is turkey served with all the trimmings, before finishing with a generous slice of pecan pie served with a dollop of yoghurt sorbet. Yum.

Ffiona's

A fully adopted holiday

A vibrant Kensington spot, Ffiona's is known for its homey setting, overflowing with its namesake owner's character, and classic British food. Thanks to its owner's “fanatic” love of the American holiday, however, the restaurant also offers a delectable Thanksgiving menu. Started out of gratitude to the area's American residents, the four lunch and dinner sittings feature set menu with traditional dishes and signature specialities such as cornbread with pickled jalapenos and cheese, or sweet potato meringue pie. Takeaway is available as well.

The Lanesborough Grill

A London icon

The Lanesborough Grill, the timeless flagship restaurant at the five-star Lanesborough, celebrates Thanksgiving with a three-course lunch and dinner menu. Highlighting seasonal flavours, the menu at the richly furnished establishment starts off with a native lobster chowder, continues with a traditional Thanksgiving roast, and finishes things off with a caramelised pecan tart. An optional wine pairing is available as well.

Make sure you leave room for dessert, the caramelised pecan pie with bourbon ice cream is next level. The best bit? You'll get to enjoy panoramic views of the city while you dine.

Darby's

A feast fit for royalty

Darby's in Nine Elms, run by husband and wife duo Robin and Sarah Gill, is inspired by New York and for Thanksgiving this year, they're offering a special four-course menu that includes American favourites. You can expect dishes like Brussel tops and chestnuts, truffle mac 'n' cheese croquettes, lemon and thyme roast turkey with cranberry sauce and gravy, and a pumpkin tart with toasted pecans and bourbon ice cream. What a feast!

The Jones Family Kitchen

A thanksgiving rendezvous

Jones Family Kitchen is a popular restaurant located in the open-air Eccleston Yards in the heart of Belgravia, known for its inviting and chic atmosphere. Day-to-day, it's a go-to spot for those seeking a premium cut of British grass-fed steak, but this year, the restaurant is also hosting a special menu for Thanksgiving, which includes classics like roast turkey with buttermilk mash and pecan pie with cranberries and nougat.

The Stafford London

An American institution

The Stafford London Hotel in St James is renowned amongst the American community, so it's no surprise that they're hosting an epic feast for Thanksgiving this year at their two venues, The Game Bird restaurant and The American Bar – a historic establishment filled with American memorabilia. During WWII, the hotel also hosted numerous American and Canadian officers who sought solace in its ancient Wine Cellars while stationed far from home, so the festivities feel fitting. There will be a three-course menu in both The Game Bird and The American Bar, featuring dishes like maple-glazed Kellybronze turkey served with garlic mash, sage and onion stuffing, green bean casserole, and roasted pumpkin. Of course, there will be pecan pie and mocha ice cream to finish.

The Pem

Thanksgiving with a British twist

The Pem is a restaurant in Westminster, located inside the prestigious Conrad Hotel, that showcases the very best of British cuisine, celebrating much-loved, seasonal ingredients. But, for one night a year, they also embrace traditional American Thanksgiving, offering a mouthwatering menu with a British twist. You can expect dishes like buttermilk and jalapeño cornbread with maple syrup butter and pumpkin pie ice cream with shortbread and hazelnut, all best enjoyed in the elegant dining room.

Sam's Riverside

Giving thanks for the views

Boasting excellent views of the River Thames, this contemporary Hammersmith restaurant offers a tastefully furnished seating area, as well as a private dining room for hire. Despite its steadfast British provenance, Sam's Riverside celebrates Thanksgiving with a classic three-course menu featuring comforting stateside dishes such as maple-glazed pumpkin, roast turkey with all the trimmings, and spiced apple & blueberry pie.

The Ivy

A British icon goes American

The Ivy, a landmark London restaurant boasting contemporary British art, stained-glass windows, and a glamorous centrepiece bar, is known for its British cuisine, but for this year's Thanksgiving, it's going a bit American as well. During Thanksgiving week, they'll be adding a blend of both countries' cuisines to the menu — a pumpkin shepherds pie.
