You've never seen saris like these

The Offbeat Sari exhibition at the Design Museum takes an in-depth look at this fascinating traditional dress, displaying dozens of contemporary saris by Indian designers, wearers, and craftspeople.

The sari is a traditional women's garment from the Indian subcontinent, worn across a number of occasions, from everyday life to special events and ceremonies. In recent years, this traditional garb has been undergoing a renaissance of sorts, with acclaimed designers reinventing it using different forms, techniques, while young urban people have started wearing it outside of its usual settings, also as an object of protest against societal norms.

The Offbeat Sari exhibition presents the sari as “a metaphor for the complex definitions of India today”, displaying beautiful creations by India's finest artisans. Find more information here.
