The UK's biggest hot sauce festival takes place in Peckham in May

If you prefer your food on the spicy side then get 11th May in your diary – the biggest hot sauce festival in the entire country is taking place in South London. Taking place at Peckham's creative business park Copeland Park, The Hot Sauce Society Festival will be ready to blow your head off with lots of food and entertainment.

The 2024 edition of the festival is the fifth time it's taken place and there will be lots happening for spice fans to enjoy. More than 40 traders offering diverse hot sauces and chilli-laden products will be at the festival so you can stock up on items to use at home. Added to that, the festival has street food ranging from fried chicken and Asian noodles to ice cream, pop-up shops, games, DJs and entertainment, kids' activities, and craft beer and cocktails for when you need to cool your mouth down.

The festival's first ever “Hot Sauce Awards” will take place, awarding the spiciest and most delicious sauces across a number of different categories. And if you're up for a challenge, try out “Chilli Karaoke”, where attendees will compete to sing their favourite song immediately after munching on a whole scotch bonnet pepper. You might have more fun if you just watch that event.

The festival is open to all ages and kids under 12 can get in for free - maybe keep them away from the free samples. Find out more about this scorching hot event on the Hot Sauce Society website.
