Crate reveals details of its new Walthamstow project, coming this summer

Crate is a group of food courts and community event and business spaces constructed from repurposed containers. They're launching a new venture in the heart of Walthamstow this summer, and going by the first details they've revealed, it looks to be a doozy.

Not to be confused with the nearby Crate St James Street, Crate Walthamstow will be located on the first floor of the 17&Central shopping mall next to Walthamstow Town square. The new space will bring together seven street food vendors, with the names announced so far including Yorkshire Burrito, Hanoi Kitchen, Carne, and Nanny Bill's, as well as a cocktail, wine, and craft beer bar to go with the food.

Crate Walthamstow won't be just another shopping mall food court, however, as the venue will include two event spaces and regularly host different classes, comedy nights, live music, pub quizzes, and more. In addition, Crate Walthamstow will have a nine-hole mini-golf course, inspired by the natural spaces around the borough. Fun for the whole family sorted, then!

Finally, the new Crate will also encompass a gallery space, showcasing local creative talent. In fact, residents of Waltham Forest can participate in a photo competition for the grand opening of the venue this summer – find more details here.

Judging by what's been announced so far, the local community is about to get a vibrant and popular new social space, and we're all for it.
