Chishuru to move from Brixton and reopen in 2023

Arguably one of London’s best-loved West African restaurants, Chishuru, is moving on from its original Brixton home. Despite opening in September 2020 and only being able to trade for six weeks of the year thanks to the never-ending cycle of national lockdowns, the restaurant cemented itself during that time as a massive name on the city’s food scene, and its popularity has only continued.

Chishuru serves set menus showcasing contemporary West African cooking, built upon culinary traditions from the region. The current site is compact, making it harder to accommodate the hordes of customers who want to get through the door. The restaurant has undoubtedly evolved at lightning speed and the change of venue is the next step in the restaurant’s evolution.

The restaurant will be open at its current Market Row location for the last time on 29th October before shutting up shop. As of yet, a new location and opening date has not been confirmed but restaurant owner Adejoké Bakare intends to reopen in the new year.
