A controversial 19th century play comes to London

For the first time ever, the candlelit and atmospheric Sam Wanamaker Playhouse at Shakespeare's Globe is staging a groundbreaking work written in 1881. Ghosts, a work by Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen, caused uproar in its day with its controversial themes of incest, religion, and euthanasia. Now considered a play of historical importance, Londoners can see it in an intimate venue from 10th November until 28th January.

This scandalous play explores family secrets and forbidden desire. Like much of Ibsen's work, it was written as a commentary on 19th century morality and still has the power to shock audiences today. Ghosts is being staged as part of the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse 10th Anniversary Season. Seated and standing tickets are available now.
