Spanish food, drink and culture are the order of the day at lively Spanjorskan ("the Spanish lady"), just a few doors down from sister restaurant Nybrogatan 38. Coming here is like finding yourself in a Madrid backstreet or experiencing the vibrant food culture of San Sebastian or Barcelona.
Spanjorskan may be in Östermalm, but the concept is as Spanish as it comes. The restaurant - which is part of the Bockholmen group (Nybrogatan 38, Nytorget 6, Österlånggatan 17) - has gathered ingredients and inspiration from southern climes. Gather on dark red leather sofas and tuck into an big meal, or perch by the bar for a cocktail or post-work drink with pintxos. The whole place exudes Spanish vibes, with red walls, rustic wooden tables and Thonet-style bentwood chairs.
The menu includes tapas and main courses from the rotisserie and grill, but you can also order a "platter" - a large platter filled with spicy paella or a Spanish suckling pig fest to share with the table. Parties who really want to go large should order the entire "fiesta" menu, which includes a taste of everything. Spanjorskan also serves lunch and late lunch (the restaurant is open continuously from lunchtime until evening) and at the weekends they serve a Spanish brunch filled with à la carte dishes.
