The idea for Restaurang Oxenstiernan was born when silversmith and jeweller Sebastian Schildt discovered a unique 18th century building in Östermalm. Here, along with creative director Elvira Lindqvist, he has created a meeting place for all the senses, with an emphasis on sustainable cooking.
Come to Oxenstiernan for sensory pleasure and inspiration; the restaurant aims to be a place where art, design, craftsmanship and gastronomy come together. Together with her team, creative director Elvira Lindqvist creates menus where the emphasis is on sustainability, combining pure ingredients from local producers and wild produce from the forest and fields.
The frequently changing menu is steered by the seasons, weather and winds, but the common denominator is Swedish culinary craftsmanship. Classic flavours and cooking techniques place the humble vegetable centre stage, accompanied by meat from carefully chosen producers. The drinks list also celebrates craftsmanship and quality and includes both traditional and more innovative drinks, always free from additives and pesticides.
The restaurant is light and airy and decorated with natural materials, from the wooden floors to the granite bar counter and leather details on the chairs. The leafy 18th century property would previously have had kitchen gardens and livestock. There are no animals grazing here now, but Oxenstiernan is a tribute to farmers, small-scale producers and dairies. The restaurant was awarded a green Michelin star in 2022.
