Forget fads and niche concepts, Ilse strives to be a modern classic where everyone is welcome. The restaurant is located in BonBon's old premises and carries an air of timelessness. Guests dine upon white tablecloths in front of an open kitchen or take a seat by the round bar that dominates the venue. Ilse is open all day serving lunch and dinner, and the menu is always the same.
Jonas Wigert, previously of BonBon and Duck & Crab, runs Ilse. Jonas abandoned the idea of a conceptual restaurant and instead embraces the classics. The ambition is to offer a little something for everyone, without limiting itself to a certain trend or cuisine. The menu features European meat and fish dishes with a modern twist as well as exotic influences. The decor is both elegant and homely with a black, white and beige colour palette punctuated by greenery and art.
The restaurant appeals to a wide audience from business folk to bar guests and families with small children. Food is served off the same menu from noon until closing, which means that you can swing by for a bite to eat whenever you fancy: 3 pm lunch - no worries. The bar is open for spontaneous drop-ins. The bar serves cocktails and Old World wine, based on the bartenders' own preferences.
