Pelikan, one of Sweden's oldest restaurants, is famous for both its traditional Swedish homecooking and its long history. The fabled Södermalm premises house a large beer hall, a smaller dining room and a lively bar where art and music combine.

Pelikan was founded in the 17th century in the Old Town but since the early 1900s the restaurant has been on Blekingegatan, a stone's throw from Götgatan. Time has more or less stood still in the large beer hall. The original Art Nouveau style has been well maintained and the menu retains its traditional Swedish flavours. Everything from Pelikan's legendary huge meatballs to pork shank with root veg mash, as well as a few more innovative dishes that have found their way onto the menu.

Pelikan has always been a popular meeting place. Hang out by the long bar counter and enjoy cocktails with Scandinavian flavours, listen to DJs and admire artworks by young artists. Next door is the little dining room, which is hung with works by artist and Pelikan regular, Stig Claesson.

Old school and traditional. Go there if you want to feel like you are going back in time and want to eat typically Swedish food. Also good for a business lunch with people who work on that side of town. Not that easy to find a good business lunch place nearby. Don’t go there for innovation, a...

Great place if you want to invite foreign guests to fancy Swedish home cooking! More expensive than other tourist traps but definitely better quality of food.

A minus is that the noise level of the premises!

Fantastico!! Super consigliato. Grazie a tutti

My colleagues laughed at me when I didn't know what "iced woman" was. It is apparently an old expression that is often heard at the pelican.

The restaurant is old and storied and it is reflected and in the interior. It is high in ceiling. Tables, chairs and breakfast bar are...

Today there was lunch at Pelikan, they serve different home cooking dishes. I ordered pork shanks with root mash but wasn't prepared to bring in a crazy big pork shanks with legs and everything 😅. Then we had the energy to test their rhubarb pie with vanilla ice cream. Everything is good and i...

For generous portions, some old school south and houseman and also very well-cooked houseman, Pelikan is a lovely place. Still prefers over other classic houseman such as The Prince precisely because they do not try to be so nice on the edge. The venue is cool and everything is south in a gaggy way...

Here you go if you want a clean and well-cooked houseman in its element, the room is incredibly charming. It may be a bit too cumbering, but it's part of the package and just charming. Their meatballs (with cream sauce) are magical!

Härligt ställe med god mat och vänlig personal. Kommer gärna tillbaka.

The other day I went to the Crystal, Pelikan's back pocket, for the first time after a major rebuild. The Interior is very inviting and it is good it, otherwise I would probably not come back. The past 10 years, I felt like I stepped into the troll's Shreks Atrium, with walls in dark blue,...
