Grodan’s popularity never fades. Classic French cuisine, traditional Swedish fare has been served at this prestigious establishment for the past thirty years. The crowd is a boisterous mix of regulars, both young and old. The restaurant’s bar scene is also popular, boasting a wine bar and cocktail bar.
Grodan is actually one of the largest restaurants in the city, although the venue is divided into several smaller spaces; the bar, dining room, lounge, outdoor terrace and bistro. Both large and small groups are easily accommodated. The restaurant opened in 1985 and was originally called La Grenouille – which means ‘frog’ in French. But the regulars quickly adopted the local name and thus Grodan was conceived. In accordance to its origin, the menu features continental French flavours and traditional Swedish dishes.
The venue is perfectly adapted to suit both corporate and private events. The beautiful, painted ceiling of the elegant space is an attraction in itself – about as romantic as it can get. When the clock strikes midnight however, Grodan undergoes a slight transformation. Catering to a younger crowd with cocktails and DJs playing music until early morn.
The outdoor terrace is one of the best in the city for people watching. Recline in the lounge area with a glass of champagne to soak up the bustling ambiance.
Be sure not to miss Grodan’s breakfast, which is served from 7:30 am on weekdays.
