Where to go for good value brunch in Stockholm

Monumental buffets, scrambled eggs, pancakes and nowhere to be. Brunch is a favourite weekend treat among Stockholmers but it's not always one of the most wallet-friendly. But going out for brunch doesn't need to cost the earth. This popular café on Nytorget is packed with locals every day of the week. At weekends, you can grab a pew and enjoy brunch dishes like American pancakes and club sandwiches. The atmosphere's friendly and relaxed and guests include young families and groups of friends.

Healthfood haunt

BodyBuddy has become a firm neighbourhood favourite among Östermalm locals. They serve healthy food and drinks made on site. The menu includes everything from salads to smoothie bowls and raw food and on Saturdays they serve a brunch with both hot and cold options. Everything is organic and mainly free from gluten and lactose. You'll find them on Jungfrugatan where they share premises with Yogayama.

Bistro Casper

Bistro brunch

Bistro Casper next to Vasaparken has everything from yoghurt bowls to hamburgers on their brunch menu - all you have to do is choose. If you want to treat yourself, they also serve classic brunch cocktails such as mimosas and Bloody Marys. During the summer months, you can sit and eat outside alongside the leafy park.

Café Sirap

Queueing all seats

On weekend mornings the queues start forming even before this cafe on Surbrunnsgatan open, and their popular pancakes are probably the reason. Hungry punters can choose between various different brunch menus - including vegetarian - while the more restrained may prefer a bagel or a few pancakes. The waiting times are shorter on weekdays, but there are very few seats and the volume's high so getting a takeaway and heading to Vanadislunden park is a top tip.

Två små svin

Smørrebrød buffet in Årsta

Två små svin in Årsta lays out a whole buffet of 'smørrebrød' open sandwiches each weekend and lets guests get stuck into the Danish delicacy. There are masses of different and innovative toppings and the setting feels like a nice updated version of an old beer hall. Souped-up brunch spot well worth a trip out of the city centre.

One of just a few spots in Stockholm where you can eat brunch outside of weekends. It's proved to be a popular concept among Stockholmers who come to brunch every day of the week. Calexico's

"Sunday Brunch Bonanza"

The brunch at Calexico's inside Debaser in Hornstull is a popular foodie Sunday paradise. Count on everything from sliders, ribs and Caeser salad to smoothies, milkshakes and waffles which you make yourself. The price is over 200 SEK but you get a serious brunch bonanza for your money. It's definitely worth booking a table.

Café String

Breakfast fave by Nytorget

For a very reasonable amount you get both a whole range of breakfast dishes and a great atmosphere. You should get to String on time, otherwise you run the risk of being squeezed out by an entire colony of diners who come here to discuss the events of the previous evening and tuck into the generous breakfast buffet. And we should mention that the focus is definitely more on breakfast than brunch here. Bread, yoghurt, fruit, pancakes, ice cream, hummous and cottage cheese are just a few of the things you can chow down on.
