Had enough of lifting weights in a sweaty gym? Stockholm has plenty of easily accessible outdoor gyms where anyone can exercise outside in the fresh air - completely free. Outdoor gyms vary a little in terms of size and equipment, but many of them offer a total full-body workout. You'll often find them in green, leafy areas close to jogging tracks. Below we list the best outdoor gyms in Stockholm for both beginners and dedicated fitness junkies.
You'll find this outdoor gym up on a little hill in Vasapark, with two connecting platforms and views over the park and Sankt Eriksplan. The equipment - including pull-up bars, horizontal bars, chinning bars and balance stumps - is suitable for all kinds of bodyweight training and suits all levels.
Next door to swimming pool
If you don't feel like sweating it out inside the Eriksdalsbadets gym, you'll find an outdoor gym right alongside it. There are various wooden stations where you can practice weight lifting, situps, bench press, shoulder press, knee squats, lunges and balance. Its location next to the water and esplanade make it perfect for a jog before or after.
Hammarby Slussväg 20, Skanstull/Södermalm
This popular outdoor gym is outside Kampementsbadet outdoor swimming pool in Gärdet and it has a complete range of equipment in wood. There are stations for pull-ups, sit-ups, dips, monkey bars, bench press, shoulder press, knee squats, lunges and balance training. The gym is illuminated until 10pm and in the summer the pool provides instructions.

Work out near the park alongside the beach swimming spot at Tantolunden. This wooden outdoor gym in leafy surroundings allows users to adjust the resistance. Every station has a sign with information about the various muscle groups you're using and the gym is fully accessible.

The outdoor gym in Vanadislunden is right next to the lower playground by Sveavägen and you can exercise all of your body's seven basic movements here: Pull, Push, Squat, Lunge, Hinge, Rotation and Gait. Right around Kungsholmen?
The outdoor gym along Kungsholmen's esplanade (near Pipersgatan) has six different fitness stations with woodchip underneath. Your own bodyweight is used as resistance. Perfect as a compliment to your walk or jog around Kungsholmen.
