Phil's has been around since the big burger boom hit Stockholm. They're now a modern restaurant serving both traditional and innovative burgers, along with salads and plant-based alternatives. Forget what you think you know about burger joints - this flagship restaurant is a great place to come for lunch, dinner or a post-work drink with good friends. Their wine list has been updated, as have their cocktails.

Burgers at Bun Meat Bun are made according to the "smash technique", which gives the meat a crisp surface. Since their first restaurant opened in Farsta Strand in 2014, Stockholmers have been making the pilgrimage across town to eat their popular burgers, and they now have outlets in Söderhallarna and Mariehäll as well. The smashed patties are served with American potato-bread buns and are best accompanied by crispy French fries and milkshakes.

Lådan isn't like other fastfood joints. The concept here is fast food served as medium-sized dishes, so that you can test several dishes from the menu. Choose from sliders, chicken dishes, along with substantial sides, all made from carefully selected Swedish ingredients. Take a pew at one of the picnic tables in the food truck-style dining room and eat your way through the menu.

Fastfood burgers have a bit of a bad reputation but now there's a slightly more upmarket variation with an emphasis on top-notch, freshly-prepared ingredients. Salta Pizza invites Stockholm to enjoy a taste of Argentina's food culture and tradition, which is characterised by community, craftsmanship - and plenty of cheese. They serve massive pizzas sprinkled with a generous amount of real Argentinian mozzarella are served, as well as handmade empanadas with various fillings. The familiar restaurant invites you to relax with loved ones, but naturally you're also welcome to take your food home with you.

Pizza is a well-established option on the fastfood front and it's hard to miss the fact that posh pizzas are a big deal on the Stockholm restaurant scene right now. Classic options sit alongside slightly more sophisticated variations with innovative toppings - perfect for both fastfood fanatics and gourmets.

At this little kebab joint, which opened in 2016, they aim to make and serve kebabs just the way they ought to taste, with no short cuts. Combined with beer and wine, of course. There's been plenty of hype around Meat on a Stick since even before it opened - the guy behind M.O.A.S, Jiray Seropian, has an Instagram account called Kebabspotting with around 20 000 followers.

Kebab and falafel have their roots in the Middle East and they're firm favourites on the Stockholm fastfood scene. Both dishes can be endlessly varied with masses of different accompaniments and there's something for almost all tastes.

Fast doesn't need to mean sloppy. At Dirty Tacos they serve their tacos in stylish surroundings with wooden bentwood chairs and a calming colour palette. And they don't serve any old tacos - their tacos take culinary inspiration from all over the world, with unexpected seasonings, sauces, flavours and sides, all made using top quality ingredients. 

Centrally located on Kungsgatan 25 - hence the name - this food hall boasts eleven food outlets. The emphasis is on unique concepts and top-quality food served from morning until evening. Outlets include Jim Lim, YOI, Hattori Sushi Devil and Zócalo, as well as Panini which has a number of branches around town. Takeaway is always possible.

Grilled delicacies from the Middle East, served in pita bread, as a bowl or salad, are the order of the day at Baladi Grill. The menu lists plenty of vegetarian and vegan options, as well as a couple of meaty options. Eat on site in the charming mint green restaurant or pick up takeaway, and if your stomach's really rumbling, you can complement your dish with sides such as fries and vegetables from the grill.

A visit to S2 is quick, tasty and easy. Well, apart from actually choosing which place to eat at. This modern food court gathers over a dozen restaurants under the same roof, with everything from burgers to sushi and rotisserie-grilled meat. With 650 seats, you don't have to worry about not getting a seat, and takeaway is always an option. From time to time, they also put on post-work events with DJs and live performances.

This Södermalm institution has been serving up Turkish-inspired food to a loyal gang of regulars for more than ten years. The charcoal grill and fresh ingredients make Amida a true fastfood favourite. Take a seat or grab your food to go. They also do catering.

This father-and-son concept goes against the posh burger trend, focusing instead on locally-grown organic food, with no additives and with strong Nordic culinary influences. Seasonal variations on quenelles (including fish and veg alternatives) are served to eat in or be enjoyed on the go.

Ringen's food court gathers some of Swedenäs hottest chefs under one roof. Youäll find a wide selection of vegan and vegetarian options. Flavours come from all over the world.

As the name suggests, The Fishery serves fish in all its forms - in salads, tacos, as burgers and stews. Paradise for fish-lovers, in other words. Their sister restaurant The Farm Family, which is in the same premises, focuses on substantial, innovative salads that pack a major flavour punch. Both restaurants are good value.

American superstore meets retro diner at this fastfood joint in Danderyd. Freshly-ground hamburgers made from chuck steak are served in cool industrial surroundings, along with classic and modern pizza options. There's even a "shake corner" with its own milkshake menu.

The Good Gringo is run by American Kenny Jones Jr, who has taken authentic "San Francisco style" burritos to Kungsholmen. They're also made from top-quality, sustainable ingredients.

This on-trend healthfood joint is inside Östermalms Saluhall indoor food market. Choose from a simple yet healthy menu consisting of wraps, salads, juices and smoothies, with vitamin and mineral-packed ingredients. There are plenty of options for vegans, vegetarians and lactose-intolerant people.
