Wind down at a welcoming wine bar
Hornstull's first wine bar, Hornstulls Bodega, which is part of Tjoget, is run by pair of sommeliers with experience from places such as Djuret, Pubologi och Fäviken. Guests with a thirst for wine or cocktails drop by in the evening to relax in the delightful atmosphere and maybe have something to eat.

Greener and more pleasant
The historic Nalen restaurant is now certified organic, and their new, greener status can even be felt in their after-work sessions on Thursdays. Combine organic wines with snacks - mainly vegetarian - to go with. "Greener and more pleasant" is the vibe, but don't forget that their after-work sessions are only once a week!

Usine, in the office area of Fatburen, has a bang up to the minute concept, offering everything from food and drinks to a gallery and conference room. Slink into the bar and make yourself at home with a glass of something and perhaps a bite to eat while you drink in the industrial bistro setting. It's even harder to resist, of course, if you happen to work in the building.

"Vassa", as locals call it, is a favourite watering hole for thirsty Stockholmers. Though beer, wine and classic cocktails generally take precedence over water here. The bar is often packed at weekends and in the evenings and the music and atmosphere get louder and livelier as the evening goes on.Its location makes it the perfect starting point for anyone going on to other bars and clubs around Stureplan, and if you're hungry you can always ask the maître d′ for a table in the dining room.

Farang's cocktails are at least as imaginative as the restaurant's innovative and luxurious Thai food. Try a Singapore Sling, it's said to be the best in town, or why not a flaming Mai Tai? There are even comfortable armchairs, perfect for thirsty after-workers.

In 2016, Kung Carl opened a new bar by the lobby with a combination of Parisian elegance and a modern atmosphere, a stone's throw from Stureplan. This is the place to come for what is still quite a unique combination in Sweden, innovative cocktails and well-executed small dishes.

The mega-hyped Nosh & Chow looks a little like a classic Manhattan townhouse. Its setting is one of its main, but far from only, plus points. Have something to drink in the gorgeous bar or chill in the inner courtyard with its open fireplace. A lovely way to shake off the working day.

There's plenty of space here to mingle with international hotel guests and have a drink after work. For anyone after a slightly more fancy joint, we recommend Malmen Bar, otherwise Lilla Hotellbaren is a popular choice with its focus on live music and cocktails. Drinks can also be combined with bar food.

After-work hangouts don't get much more central than this. The cosmopolitan hotel restaurant has a buzzy cocktail bar with regular DJ sessions which draw in a large post-work crowd. Sip cocktails in a stylish continental setting with plush carpets, brass details and a hint of New York and Paris.

For an after-work drink with an authentic Mad Men feel, head towards Kungsholmen and try cocktails on tap. Tap Room is part of the Clarion Hotel Amaranten and it oozes Sixties vibes with a modern twist. The bar is also the first one in town to embrace this American cocktail trend.

The Bara family includes five different joints on Södermalm which attract a large after-work crowd. The city's largest activity centre
A wide-ranging activity centre for adventure-hungry gangs of friends and psyched-up business groups. Here, you can take part in everything from neon-lit bowling alleys to state-of-the-art golf, hunting and football simulators. Or why not chill out in the private spa area with sauna and jacuzzi? Combine a game of boule with some rustic French food and hire an instructor if you need one. Boulebar is great fun for novices and pros alike, and it's a popular place for both corporate fun and groups of friends.

You'll find everything here, from activities to food and masses of beer. Invite your colleagues along to O'Learys and challenge them to a pentathlon including bowling, racing simulators and "adventure golf", for example. At the next door Boston Grill you can also drink craft beer, relax in front of the huge screens showing sports or have a bite to eat. Bambino's is also right next door.

Minigolf and a dip
Golfbaren in Kristineberg and Aspudden is a real summer oasis with green minigolf courses, leafy surroundings and places to get something to eat and/or drink. Both courses are close to bathing spots - perfect for when you want to round off your post-work drink with a refreshing dip. The sister spot Swing by Golfbaren in Vasastan has a Twenties-inspired indoor course, food and cocktails and is open all year round.
Open-minded beach hangout
Make like the rest of Stockholm and end your working day on the loveliest pontoon in town on Norr Mälarstrand. An idyllic summer spot and very gay-friendly. They sell their very own rosé wine here, part of the profits of which go to HBTQ rights charities around the world. Only open during the summer months.

Soul Train, legendary after-work spot
Soul Train has been a popular night at Café Opera since it began in 2012 and is a favourite Friday party spot for in-the-mood after-workers. Around 1 600 visitors each Friday create perhaps the largest and jolliest after-work event in town - reckon on dance music and a great atmosphere until 10pm.

Network and party at the same time
Out of Office started in 2015 and it draws in thousands of visitors each pay-day Friday. The concept, a mix of networking, festival, concert and club, takes place in various places around Stockholm and serveral other cities. Entry is free, but you have to download their app to join (see their website).
