The smart, somewhat sleepy northeastern part of the city is home to numerous traditional cafés and patisseries that have been around for generations. If you're lucky you might spot the odd celebrity or royal here, surrounded by locals, groups of friends, mums and dads with babies and four-legged friends. Crème is both a café and neighbourhood restaurant. Come for an excellent breakfast, lunch, fika, dinner or just a glass of wine. You'll find one of Östermalm's best outdoor seating areas at Kavalleriet, just a stone's throw from Strandvägen and some of Stockholm's swankiest shopping streets. The café has a similar style to its sister establishments, Gast and Snickarbacken 7, with its pared-back, urban interiors and modern menu. Everything from open sandwiches to salads, breakfasts, coffee or a cold beer is available, and you can combine your visit with a cultural experience at Scenkonstmuseet (the Swedish Museum of Performing Arts) next door.
