Health consciousness seems to be a part of the Voltaire DNA. Take a break from the shopping madness of Åhléns City and take a seat at this health food restaurant. Vegetarian dishes, delicacies and delicious sweet things are what they do best, along with selling environmentally-friendly kitchen items and interiors. This Norwegian healthfood concept opened up in Stockholm in 2017. They serve fast, healthy food such as salads, bowls and wraps, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. Eat on-the-go or enjoy your healthfood kick in light, airy surroundings near Hötorget.

"Clean food" à la La & NYC
Mälarpaviljongen's green sister restaurant is inspired by the "clean food" trend from the USA and serves a wide range of organic health food. Food without refined sugar is the order of the day and the menu is packed with buckwheat wraps and quinoa salads, as well as cold-pressed juices and healthy sweet treats. There's also Fairtrade wine for those who fancy it.

Free from gluten, lactose and refined sugar
This café is all about nutritious food in all its forms. With an emphasis on top-notch, usually organic, ingredients they serve beautiful salads, wraps and chia pudding, acai bowls and vegan cakes and pastries such as cheesecake and nut balls. In the summer you can seat out in their large inner courtyard.
Renée Voltaire's veggie joint
Healthy eating pioneer Renée Voltaire's well-known food philosophy permeates this little café in Östermalm, which is very much of its time. The idea is to offer food in its purest form with no weird stuff - ie. organic, unprocessed and without additives. You can choose between "juice cleansers", chia puddings, salads, "raw treats" and other good things in the stylish industrial surroundings. Take away or claim your spot at one of the few tables.

Green eco buffet
A real veggie institution where you can fill your tum with a completely vegetarian and vegan buffet made from organic produce. The restaurant closes early, so for lunch.

From blinis to bowls
This playful concept on Kungsgatan serves fast, fresh dishes surrounded by music and shelves filled with board games. The menu is extensive and includes bowls, salads, wraps, hot dishes and their own mini pancakes for anyone feeling a little more decadent. Open all day.

Systrarna Frö is hidden away close to Fridhemsplan, a little oasis serving homemade breakfast, lunch and coffee with a healthy bent. The menu varies from day to day and their lunch dishes include colourful vegetarian dishes with global influences.

Health oasis in Vasastan
The owner of health food café Green Smile on Vanadisplan has previously worked in NYC and Dubai and the influences from those places are apparent. The counter is packed with nutritious salads, smoothies, juices and bowls, including gluten and lactose-free options. Much of it is vegetarian but there are also salads with chicken, for example. The interiors are made from reclaimed wood too.

The green wave
As the name suggests, Organic Green in Vasastan is all about organic, green food. The little restaurant is mainly a popular lunch spot but you can also eat an early dinner here or start the day with an organic roll. They serve everything from homemade pies, soup and vegetarian lasagne to fresh-pressed juices, health drinks and aloe vera shots to health-conscious punters.

You'll find this café within the Östermalm yoga studion Yogayama. Their health philosophy is that delicious food can also be nutritious and they serve healthy, filling breakfasts, lunches and brunches. Bodybuddy are known for their bowls and salads, but also for working hard to reduce food waste and plastic use.
Jungfrugatan 8, Östermalm
This health food concept is the first (and, so far, only) restaurant in Stockholm to focus on food that's good for people with IBS. The menu includes hot dishes and substantial salads, all of which include kale. A popular lunch spot on two floors.

Charming old-fashioned grocery store in cultural setting
Adjoining the popular Millesgården sculpture park lies this charming country-style store. You can buy things to take home or take a seat for a while on the café's terrace. Ambitions are high and the emphasis is on craftsmanship and ingredients from carefully selected producers. From behind the counters you can buy top-quality charcuterie, well hung Swedish meat, farm cheeses and organic ice cream. In short, all good things under the same roof.

Hip, green restaurant success story
What started out as a pop-up restaurant has become a hugely successful restaurant on Mosebacke Torg. Expect a culinary experience with exciting dishes, made from the very best locally-produced, organic ingredients. Natural wines and micro-brewed beers accompany the food. The interiors are the work of designer Lars Stensö and complement the stylish overall look.

Organic Nordic fast food
This father and son concept serves fast food with a clear sense of the zeitgeist - locally-grown, with few food miles and, above all, no additives. Nordic favourites such as meatballs and fish and potato rissoles are served with seasonal accompaniments. You can choose to take away or take a seat on the steps which make the most of the tiny space.
Raw food in spa setting
Ecobaren has a gorgeous location at the Centralbadet spa by their lush gardens, and serves organic raw food, among other things, in a peaceful spa setting. The menu has something for hedonists and health freaks alike, with everything from substantial moose and lamb burgers to raw food pizzas, health drinks and raw food cakes.

Scandinavia's largest organic food store
Finally, Stockholm has its own version of the American superchain "Whole Foods": Paradiset - which is the largest organic store in Scandinavia with the broadest organic product range on the market. The store even has its own closed-loop system - food and ingredients that aren't sold are cooked and served at their own food court. Restaurants such as Smakkultur, Delibruket and Saltå Kvarn bakery are also represented here.
Organic and local food shop
Goodstore is a Södermalm store selling only carefully selected organic and locally-produced ingredients. The aim is to stock everything you need under one roof. The range is exciting, with everything from vegetarian "ham" around Christmas to organic marmelades and raw sweet things without gluten or sugar.
Possibly the nicest food shop in town?
Cajsa Warg brings to mind old-school grocery stores and both branches focus on locally-produced, organic ingredients, healthy ready meals and exciting ingredients. With a broad and unusual range you'll find pretty much everything you could wish for - from baking to food.
Food as medicine
In keeping with the concept of food as medicine, Primör/Organico proudly stocks a wide range of organic and biodynamic products. You can take a pew and enjoy vegan salads, filling wraps and delicious raw food goodies. Don't forget to stock up on fruit and vegetables from the deli shop.
