Ice cream parlours in Stockholm

The information in this guide may be affected by covid-19.

Emperor Tang, Alexander the Great, Marco Polo - three well-known historical figures with a shared weakness for well-made ice cream. There's nothing wrong with a good old Magnum, but the experience of eating really good Italian chocolate ice cream is something else. Pure magic - particularly when enjoyed in baking sunshine. If you'd like that blissed out feeling just visit one of Stockholm's small ice cream parlours. Here are the best ice cream places in the city, with the best ice cream for true ice cream lovers.

La Gelateria Sofo

Götgatan 90, Skanstull/Södermalm

Italy meets Norrland

This little gelateria on Götgatan 90 opened in summer 2020 with its own unique concept. They make artisan Italian gelato with northern Swedish flavours. The ice cream is produced and sold in the store.

Norra Stationsgatan 70, Vasastan

A passion for Italian artisan ice cream

All the ice cream at GelatoNova in Hagastaden is made on site to traditional Italian recipes and their gelato is made from fresh ingredients, local dairy products and flavour-packed fruits. The flavours on sale behind the counter are constantly changing, so you could visit every day and try a different kind.

Sankt Paulsgatan 3, Södermalm

Celebrated pastry chef

Aryam is run by Hosanna Amanuel, an internationally celebrated pastry chef who specialises in both ice cream and chocolate. Cool off with gelato and sorbet in tempting, regularly-changing flavours. The ice-cream bar is on Sankt Paulsgatan, a few steps from Götgatsbacken.

Gelateria Italiana

Drottningholmsvägen 22, Kungsholmen

Unbeatably good by Fridhemsplan

Many people regard this as the best ice cream parlour in Stockholm. Ridiculously delicious chocolate ice cream and sorbet that kicks most others to the kerb. If you find yourself near Fridhemsplan, this is an absolute must!

Gelato made fresh daily

This popular ice cream and coffeebar by Vasapark makes Italian ice cream with top quality ingredients and creative flavour combinations. How about a burnt butter, toffee and rosemary ice cream, for example? They also run courses if you want to learn to make your own gelato.

King Scoopa

Hornsgatan 156, Hornstull/Södermalm

We all scream for ice cream

Hidden away in a basement on Hornsgatan by Hornstull you'll find King Scoopa, a much-lauded little ice cream parlour opened by Henok Fentie from Omnipollos hatt. Ice cream with exciting flavours is made on-site, and if you can't get enough of a good thing, relax - the scoops are gigantic.

Gelato Caput Mundi

Axel Landquist Park, Södermalm

Popular newcomer

In the summer of 2019, the Centellini family opened up the hatch to what might be the city's smallest ice cream factory - in a tiny green kiosk in Axel Landquists Park near Nytorget. Every day they make gelato from scratch with top notch ingredients, such as fresh fruit and Sicilian pistachios.

Kungsholmens Glassfabrik

Masses of ice cream and sorbet

Probably Stockholm's widest selection of ice cream and sorbet. They sell their wares in both the factory and in another ice cream parlour on Bondegatan (in spring and summer). The factory delivers orders to both restaurants and private customers.

Ett Bageri

Jungfrugatan 70, Gärdet

Ice cream champions 2017

This little bakery in Gärdet won the Swedish Ice Cream Championships in 2017 - not a bad reason to visit. Their range consists of homemade ice cream and sorbet in just a few selected (and naturally very popular) flavours.

Blood Cone

Hornsgatan 149, Hornstull/Södermalm

Ice cream - for dogs, too

Blood Cone near Hornstulls strand serves everything from vegan ice cream and protein-rich ice cream to ice cream made specially for dogs. Ice cream is served in flowery china cups and comes with sprinkles and other colourful toppings.

Stockholms Glasshus

Birkagatan 8, Vasastan

A must in Vasastan

Stockholms Glasshus is in the cosy neighbourhood of Birkastan and sells some of the city's most fabulous ice cream. You'll find masses of exciting flavours, made exclusively from natural ingredients and at reasonable prices.

Gelato ScarfĂł

Ålstensgatan 12, Bromma

For real gelato lovers

Take a trip out to Bromma and test the gourmet ice cream at this celebrated gelateria. They make exclusive Italian gelato daily using only selected ingredients, so you can forget any weird additives and colourings. Exciting flavours in your cone can also be combined with hot chocolate from a chocolate fountain and espresso from Calabria.

Omnipollos Flora

Humlegården, Östermalm

Hipster ice cream in HumlegĂĄrden

Omnipollo is best known for their microbrewed beer and hip pizzas, but since 2019 they've also run a beer garden and ice cream bar in Humlegården. The soft serve ice cream - served in an impressively tall twirl - is extremely imaginative in terms of both appearance and taste. Naturally, beer is one of their flavours.

Jens & Victor

Kungsholms strand 167, Kungsholmen

In the summer of 2019, Fryst moved out of their old premises on Kungsholms strand, but don't worry - they still have plenty of ice cream for everyone and more. Jens & Victor have taken over the production and sales of freshly made, top quality ice cream.
