Central Stockholm may not be the first part of town that springs to mind when you think of the word cosy. The city centre is packed with shops, takeaway restaurants and cafés - but there are also plenty of charming, intimate restaurants if you know where to look. Luckily, we do. Dinner at the Opera House
The atmosphere at Brasseriet is impressive but intimate. The restaurant locale, within the Royal Swedish Opera House, is historic and filled with velvet furniture, stucco work and gilded details. The menu includes a wide selection of shellfish, their signature dish, but also other exciting flavour combinations and creative cocktails.

Modern meat restaurant
This popular, cosy restaurant on Brunnsgatan is a carnivore's dream. All their dishes are either grilled or smoked and the menu includes a selection of fine cuts of meats and tasty accompaniments to choose between and combine as you like. Candlelight and lanterns create an intimate, inviting atmosphere.
Kungsgatan 70, Norrmalm/City
You'll find this restaurant and bar within Scandic's signature hotel Grand Central by Scandic. A meeting place for overnight guests as well as locals who come for a drink or something to eat. The menu consists of classics with a twist.

This restaurant serves top notch food with Swedish overtones and no funny business. There's an emphasis on personal service and the menu offers both classic and more innovative dishes.

Tucked away on a little side street right next to Kungsträdgården, this hotel restaurant serves classic French cuisine in atmospheric surroundings. Enjoy a glass of champagne and something to eat amongst the leafy plants and burgundy velvet banquettes.

South American flavours

This charming restaurant in the hotel of the same name serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and brunch seven days a week. Book a window table, pop into the lounge or join the scrum for a seat outdoors in good weather - there's always a spot somewhere. The menu is classic and includes plenty of vegetarian options.

Celebrity chef Markus Aujalay runs this restaurant with a European menu. In the heart of the city, Tegelbacken has colourful interiors with bright velvet soft furnishings and wooden tables. As well as the dining room there's a wine and cocktail bar and if you haven't booked a table you can always take a chance on one of the drop-in spots.
