Just as the name suggests, chicken (and other poultry) is the order of the day at Bird on Regeringsgatan. The menu consists of streetfood, including hot wings, confit duck and other American-inspired dishes and you can wet your whistle in the bar with a wide range of beers, bubbles and wine accompanied by great music.

The best of Asia
You'll find this Asian restaurant on Vasagatan, a stone's throw from Stockholm Central station. Their aim is to serve the best elements of Asian cuisine, with inspiration from cities such as Bangkok, Peking, Seoul and Osaka and classic dishes such as sushi, bibimbap, ramen and stir-fries.

Huge range of beers
Belgobaren is part of Freys Hotel, centrally located right by Central station and, as the name suggests, it serves various different kinds of moules frites and a huge range of Belgian beers. Many of the other dishes also have Belgian influences and the interiors add to the Flemish feel.

Italian food mecca
Housed in a magnificent former cinema building on Biblioteksgatan, this Italian food concept includes three restaurants, a food market and café all under the same roof. La Piazza, inspired by classic Italian piazzas, Prima, which serves mainly seasonal small dishes to share, as well as La Pasta & La Pizza which serves exactly what its name suggests.

Meno Male's budget offshoot
If you like Meno Male's artisanal Neapolitan pizzas, don't miss Pizza Posto, run by the same team. They serve the same style of authentic pizzas but at slightly lower prices. The menu consists of selected pizzas which can be combined with wine and beer. You'll find Pizza Posto within the K25 food court.

Classier than a hot dog stand
Sausages, sausages and more sausages are the order of the day at Dogfood, made from organic meat from Swedish farms. Classier than getting your hot dog from a street kiosk, and definitely more expensive, but still a great way to fill your belly without costing an arm and a leg. All toppings are homemade from scratch and there's a wide selection of micro-brewed Swedish beer.

A taste of Norrland
Sweden's northernmost region is nearer than you think, at Knut Bar on Regeringsgatan. Modern neighbourhood restaurant in the Old Town
Nybrogatan 38's sister restaurant in the Old Town has a similar concept: a great atmosphere, generous opening hours and well-priced food. Choose from continental and Swedish dishes in small or large portions. The restaurant is open for both lunch and dinner and it's also a great place to drop by for a glass of wine.
