Leafy cafés in Stockholm

Lasse i parken

Södermalm oasis

For the girl or guy about town in Södermalm, there can be few more idyllic places to stop for a coffee and something to eat than Lasse i parken. The little red wooden building was built in the 18th century and is surrounded by Pålsunds park in Hornstull - close to both Reimersholme and Långholmen. Charmingly rustic and very popular.

Gamla Orangeriet

From greenhouse to garden café

A beautiful old greenhouse in the heart of the Bergianska trädgården botanical gardens has been transformed into a gorgeous café and restuarant with lots of organic options on the menu. Relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of the green surroundings while you quench your thirst with a cool drink or treat yourself to one of their cakes or pastries.

Rosendals Trädgård

The ultimate garden idyll

Rosendals Trädgård, out on Djurgården, is one of Stockholm's best known and best loved garden cafés. You can find a spot to sit inside in one of the greenhouses or out on the grass under one of the apple trees.

Edsvikens Gelateria

Italian flavours

Get yourself along to Sollentuna and pay a visit to Edsviken Piazza & Gelateria. Food is served al dente and the gelato is made on site by the founder herself. Italian and Mediterranean-inspired cuisine is the order of the day, served in lovely natural surroundings with seating both indoors and out.

Vintervikens Trädgårdskafé

Between gardens and a swimming spot

It would be hard to find a more perfect spot than this. The café is surrounded by verdant vegetable and flower gardens and there's a lovely orangery. Everything they serve is organic and includes ice cream, homemade bread, wraps, soups, beer and wine. Just a short walk away, you can jump into Lake Mälaren for a dip.

Café Ekorren

19th century idyll

You'll find this popular oasis at Biskopsudden right out on the far end of Djurgården. The pavilion-like building was built for the World Fair in 1897, but it's the huge, open al fresco eating area that draws in the crowds. Take a pew by the water's edge or under the trees.

Woodstockholm Kiosk

Mosebacke

During the summer months, Woodstockholm Matbar opens up an organic summer café in the little park on Mosebacke torg, serving sandwiches, ice cream, coffee and sweet treats. You can sit outside the little kiosk or spread out in the park and enjoy the summer sun in this little green oasis.

Omnipollos Flora

Ice cream and beer in Humlegården

The gang behind Omnipollos hatt have gained a loyal following for their microbrewed beer and hipster pizza. You'll find their beer garden in Humlegården park in Östermalm, serving both beer and ice cream with unusual flavours. You can also enjoy a coffee in the sunshine.

Café Petissan

Old-fashioned charm

You'll find this picturesque little cafe at Skansen, surrounded by red-painted wooden cottages and bushes. Take a seat in the sunshine as you enjoy a traditional Swedish coffee break and breathe in the peaceful, old-fashioned atmosphere.

Ecobaren

Green spa oasis in the heart of the city

A proper oasis right in the middle of busy Drottninggatan. Centralbadet's organic healthfood café has its outdoor seating area in a hidden-away leafy courtyard where you can eat raw food and quench your thirst with a smoothie - without being disturbed by the hustle and bustle of the pedestrian street outside.

Karamellan

Coffee in regal surroundings

This cafe, with its verdant outdoor eating area, is right next door to Drottningholm Palace. Stop by for a cup of coffee and a snack, or some Swedish/French homecooking in regal, leafy surroundings. A top summer tip for anyone who feels like a little outing outside town.
