World-class homemade ice cream is the order of the day at Kennys Gelato in Saltsjö-Boo, which opened in 2019. The gelato they serve is made from natural ingredients such as fresh raspberries, banana and lemon. There are also several gluten- and lactose-free variations to choose from.
Kennys Gelato is run by master ice cream maker Kenny Mattson, who has won several prizes for his gelato, including Ice Cream Maker of the Year at the Swedish Ice Cream Championships in 2022. The following year, 2023, he sat on the jury. He has loved ice cream since he was a child, but it wasn't until 2018 when he went on a master gelato maker course at Carpigiani Gelato University that he became truly passionate about it. He now serves his ice cream at several different outlets around Stockholm, one of which is here in Tollare.
The ice cream café is decorated with checked tile floors and a cosy outdoor dining area with parasols, where you can cool off in the shade with gelato made fresh every day. Every morning the team makes twelve gelato and sorbet flavours, several of which have won prizes in ice cream competitions. There's always something to suit all tastes, but some of their most popular flavours are Markoolio's hazelnut with pistachio and salted caramel, Pernilla Wahlgren's lemon pie, Sofia Wistam's wild strawberry and prosecco sorbet and Siciliana supreme.
And if you happen to drop by on a day they're serving burnt butter and Kinder egg flavour, you should definitely try this big seller. At Kennys they want everyone to be able to enjoy really good ice cream, so they always have at least two sorbets for anyone who is vegan or wants to eat gluten- and lactose-free.
