The guide to Malmö's best bars

If you're in the mood for an exciting wine from a small-scale producer, or a cocktail with many of the ingredients picked in Malmö gardens, BISe is the place to be. They've gathered together a restaurant, wine bar and cocktail bar under the same roof; the cocktail bar is called Bar Bisous. 

A fantastic range of wine, delicious craft beer and spirits such as mezcal are served up by the knowledgeable staff at Riket. Throw in a warm, welcoming atmosphere in the charming Davidshall district and a small selection of simple yet tasty seasonal dishes and the result is, quite simply, a really great bar.

Is there any occasion that doesn't warrant a visit to MJ's? Highly doubtful. As well as being a stylish, modern hotel, it's one of Malmö's hottest meeting places for both locals and visitors passing through. The bar is open every day of the week and beer, wine and creative cocktails flow freely along with the music.

As the numerous wine glasses on the tables suggest, a wide range of carefully selected European wines are served here, but the drinks options don't end there. The bar delivers on all fronts with Leffe on tap, Mrs Brown's own ale and gorgeous cocktails mixed by skilled bartenders, among other alternatives. Hang out in the mingle-friendly bar area or the al fresco area on Davidshallstorg.

Quench your thirst and satisfy your hunger at this charming, quirky little wooden cabin in the middle of Folkets Park. There's an extensive and constantly updated selection of wines, bubbles and beer to choose from - either to enjoy with a meal or hanging out at the bar. Far i hatten also hosts regular live music performances.

Laid-back Metro is a Möllan institution, and their extensive list of great beers can cause agonies of indecision. If a Brooklyn Lager or Mikkeller isn't your thing, the bar also serves a small selection of wines. DJ performances are a regular event at Metro.

Grand Öl & Mat has distinct hipster-hang New York vibes, not least because it's accessed via a metal fire escape staircase from an unprepossessing courtyard. Throw in a crowd of culture vultures and other Möllan regulars enjoying fantastic beers and other well-selected and varied drinks and you have a little taste of Manhattan in Malmö.
