This cellar venue has become a real cultural hotspot in Gothenburg. As well as good food, the restaurant, which serves classic Italian flavours, is passionate about poetry and music. The cellar venue in the basement of a turn-of-the-century house on Storgatan is home to a restaurant, bar, stage and party venue.
A wide programme of events, such as concerts, poetry, DJ performances and art exhibitions take place at Studio HPKSM. Design-wise, leafy plants, stacks of books and second-hand furniture set the tone, whatever happens to be going on on any particular day.
As well as being a multi-faceted cultural institution, the brick-clad premises also house a restaurant, where Italian cuisine is the order of the day. Inspiration comes from Italian country cooking and the menu is full of rustic dishes served in hearty portions, but without compromising on the gourmet standard. If you're after a really intimate, personal experience you can book the "Chef's Table". Your whole party shares the table inside the kitchen and you're served whatever the chef feels like cooking. But just like the Studio HPKSM menu in general, vegan and vegetarian options are always on offer.
The restaurant is open during the day as well as in the evening. During the day you can drop by for a delicious, good value lunch at Studio HPKSM, where the menu changes weekly, or just a quick espresso. The kiosk-like bar in the entrance serves as a coffee bar during the day and serves a wide range of craft beer in the evenings. During the warmer months of the year, the little outdoor seating area is a popular hangout and provides an excellent vantage point from which to watch the comings and goings on Storgatan.
