Mellqvist has a reputable reputation and is a popular melting pot from dawn 'til dusk. This artisanal espresso bar is open all day everyday, happily obliging customers' daily caffeine fixes. Their breakfast is infamous, as are their pastries and the menu also offers lighter meals.

Beck is one of those coffee shops you see in movies, where regulars hang out all day over a cup of coffee, a pastry, or a sandwich. The setting is cinematically cosy, with chequered floors, window seats, and bentwood chairs.

Il Caffé has several branches and serves quality brew in an intimate, urban environment. Southern Italian vibes dominate: bold, earthy aromas punctuate the coffee. Bring your laptop and get some work done.

Bar Schiacciate doesn't just serve hearty sandwiches, they also have their own coffee: "A modern version of espresso", with influences from Italian coffee bars and Nordic specialty coffee culture. The beans themselves come from farms in Brazil, Ethiopia and Sumatra, and are boosted with robusta for extra potency.

Slakthusområdet, Stockholm's former meatpacking district, has gone through a real resurgence in recent years, and among the first on the scene was Stockholm Roast. They combine a coffee roastery with a store and cafe, made, naturally, with their own coffee. The former industrial venue's concrete vibes and homely elements like soft carpets and plants combine to make for cool, welcoming surroundings.

Kaffe's sister café on Bysistorget has a large outdoor seating area among the cherry trees which fills up quickly as soon as the sun makes an appearance. There's a warm, friendly atmosphere and you can drop by for a coffee at the bar, a lunchtime sandwich or treat yourself to one of their tempting cakes and pastries.

This tiny coffee bar near Fridhemsplan is mainly suitable for takeaway or a quick coffee, as even though there are a few seats they're usually occupied by gentlemen chatting in Italian over a cup of coffee from Italian Caffè Poli, one of the country's most famous coffee roasters.

Mitt Café doesn't just boast delightfully relaxed neighbourhood café vibes, they also have really good coffee. It's made from beans from Lykke Kaffegårdar, which don't just taste good, they also do good thanks to their direct collaboration with coffee farmers. 

Organic, fair trade, limited edition and hand-roasted - it doesn't get much better than that. Based on the philosophy that quality brew is nothing that can be rushed, the beans are slowly roasted to perfection. Johan & Nyström deliver coffee all over the city to multiple reputable cafes and restaurants.

A little Italian oasis in Bibliotekstan where coffee lovers can find both top-notch espresso and various pastries and sandwiches. Hop up at one of the small round tables, take your coffee standing up out on the street or grab a take-away. There's also a branch of Sempre in the NK department store.
